Hope this is the right forum!

Here's my question:
Is there a utility that allows you to capture screen shots under dos?
scenario:
I'm booting up with a dos network boot disk (with dos graphics) to hook up to a share that houses images. I'm using this to create images of pc's.
What I'm looking for is a utility or a way to capture the screen shots of all the on-screen steps under Dos 6.22 to create a user manual.

Thanks

I don't think you can do a screen capture as you can in Windows, since DOS is not a GUI, and hence not a 'bit-mapped' image that you click on.

However, if you link up a parallel port printer, and use print screen, you could capture pictures of the screens, and then scan them.

Bit of a pain, but all I can think of!

David.

Hi David_Jones,
Actually you can, I found this cool utility called Sthief that can capture screen straight from DOS... not a dos shell.
I had been searching for this for a week and thought I would give the forum a try. We are supervising students this summer and needed to have some kind of user guides for them to follow. Just load it up in %ramdrive% and create a directory to store the screenshots and copy them back down to the diskette.
This is so cool, here's the link http://www.vectorbd.com/bfd/msdos/

Thanks

Hi Cliff,

Good find! - Will be very useful for making manuals for DOs apps / and utilities that need to operate outside the Win environment.

Thanks,

David.
