Joysticks, anyone?

What joysticks do you use for gaming? What seems to be a good one for gaming?

I have a MS Sidewinder Pro; what is that little joystick button on the top of the joystick for?

Keyboard and mouse for any FPS.

The only joystick type device I own is a Microsoft Precision 2 flight stick for BF1942 planes. Works great.

I have the same joystick as you force_flow.

The POD, the button you are referring to, allows you to view in all directions without changing your course. It's very useful in flight simulators, you can change between views on the fly without hitting the function keys.

I tried it once in Duke Nukem 3D and it served the same purpose. But I only did it as a experiment. I prefer mouse and keyb for FPS and only use the joystick for blasting bombers out of the sky in WWII Fighters.

I use a Logitech Wingman Force 3D. The force-feedback is awesome, especially in IL-2, which is what I mostly play.

I don't know; I got mine in a trade. I imagine they would only be a few more bucks then a regular stick.

I can get Logitech's FF joysticks for about 60 USD. Now, if you want a Microsoft one, those are more expensive.

Ijust got a Saitek 3D force for $50 from Compusa. choose it because it's the only one set up for left handers. Has a throttle lever on the right.

I recently got a Logitech WingMan rumble pad.
It's nearly as good as a Playstation controller, just with a lot nicer rumble control. It has nine buttons, throttle slider, two analog sticks and is quite cheap at 30 Euros. I mostly play Grandia II and StarLancer with it (you can use the analog sticks for movement/rolling and the d-pad for views, very cool).

I like that much better than my old Saitek Cybord 3D stick - it felt too "slow" :-)

But for Q3A or UT there is nothing better than mouse/keys
