Best Video Card For this Motherboard

What is the best Video Card I can get with this motherboard. This motherboard isn't the best of the best but It can play games and stuff. I want to up my video card to the max but there is so many video cards out there to choose from and I don't know what to choose. here is a link to my motherboard.. Thanks Guys......

Buy the best one you can afford. Any of the Radeon 9X00 or any of the Nvidia Ti series cards would be good choices.

as far as i know any video card will work,you might read the reviews at the top of this forum on the radeon 9500 to 9700 if you need the top of the line(one of)i think the 8500le would be pretty good but let some of the gamers put their openions in,i dont game.

doesnt 150 bucks seem a bit steep for a Socket A mobo, I could have swore I saw a Asus P4PE for like 130 at newegg.

i agree with avx487...you can get a top-of-the-line asus a7n8x deluxe for only like $140. it has the nforce2 chipset, max of 3gb ddr sdram, and integrated ethernet ports, and agp8x. not to mention the fact that it's from asus...

it would definately be a better way to go

You're looking at the sugg retail price; scroll down and you'll see the board is only $69.

If you haven't purchased the board already, I personally would spend about $20 more and get a really good board like the Epox EPOX EP-8RDA ($89) with the Nforce2 chipset. You can even get the "Deluxe" version with LAN and digital onboard sound for $99. That MSI board has the old KT133A chipset and is really a dead platform in terms of upgrade path.

So if you haven't bought it already, I would recommend you spend $20 less on your video card and $20 more on the motherboard.

We have had problems with that board - it's not very reliable. Our builder used it for a while and I've been out on several warranty calls. Haven't trusted MSI since.

I have been using this board for almost one year and it hasn't given me trouble yet. It is a pretty much a very very reliable board. Right now I playing C&C Generals on it and it runs smoothly without any crashes and you know what, I can't really remember the last time this motherboard has given me a problem and I do about everything on it. But I just want a better video card. Right now I have a GeForce2 on it. Can this board handle DDR 8x video cards since this is not a DDR board? My AGP slot can only handle 2x/4x????

The VRAM is independent of the main RAM. Your mobo can run VCs using DDR memory no problem.

You can put an 8X VC even if your mobo only supports 4X, no problem either. Just your VC will run at 4X.

I recomend an ATi Radeon 9500, since it has native support for DX9, and the nVidia's don't. It is a universal card, so you will have no problems.
