Today I bought the network adapter for the ps2. I am going to install it soon. I have Cox High Speed Internet and I would like to hook it up to braodband. What would I need to do this? Would I need a router that my ps2 and computer would share? Like where should the netowrking cable from the ps2 plug into? Should I buy a router for this? thanks a lot!

If you're not going to plug directly into the cable modem, you'll likely need to get a router with a built-in switch, such as the Linksys BEFSR41. There are plenty more on the market. Do some checking around first and then pick which one meets your budget, application, etc.

Hello Whr2206,

If you'd like to have your PC and your PS2 share an internet connection, then the answer would be yes, get a router to connect both your PS2 and PC To. If you'd just like to have one of them on the internet at a time, it wouldn't be neccecary to have a router. If you'd like to establish a home network with other PC's and your PS2, then get a router (I currently use a Netgear MR314 Wireless Router;Works like a charm). The networking cable should plug from the cable/dsl modem into your PS2 network adapter If you plan to not have a network amongst your PC and PS2 made. If you'd like to have a network, an RJ-45 cable would run from the router into the PS2. The router would also then inturn be connected your Cable/DSl modem to you PC from it's Network card. The router would be optional, however I recomend it as it would also prove to be a firewall between your PC(s) against all of the internet.
Hope That Helps
Joe

I plan to have 2 pcs sharing teh connection as well as my ps2. I have a tv, a ps2, and computer that I all plan to have hooked up to broadband in my room. But I plan on hooking up the downstairs pc with broadband via router as well....
