Dual Monitor Setup? [Archive] - PCMech Forums

I'm looking into a dual monitor setup. I was thinking about a GeForce4 440MX card, but heard it was weak. What would be a good dual monitor card? Also, I seen some pictures of some and it doesn't appear to have two monitor inputs. Am I missing something, or is it set up differently than just plugging each monitor into the back of the card. I can just use one monitor if I wanted to, right?

Any GeForce with the "MX" on it is a weak card. Look for a card with both a DVI and a SVGA output as you can usually get a DVI to SVGA adapter, then use both outputs (at least you can on the ATI Radeons anyway).

GForce 4600 has dual video inputs. The digital is definintely a better picture if your using one monitor that supports a digital picture.

What if I have two flat panel monitors. Is one going to be better quality than the other?

I got an ATI Radeon 8500 128mb video card yesterday. The only question I have left is, with the vga to dvi converter, is the real dvi monitor going to be better quality than the dvi in the converter?

Im sure it depends on the brand of monitors your using. 2) I don't think you will see a marginal difference.

nah, if you stuck two of the same monitors next to each other with that card, one on DVI and the other on VGA it would look the same because it's being converted to VGA anyway. now if you could find a monitor that took DVI natively, then you might see a little more clarity :)

p.s. i have the 64-meg version of the card you got and I love it. I still have no interest in upgrading it after a year of use. plays anything i throw at it at good frame rates.
