I am thinking about putting a Liteon 52X24X54 CDRW in my new built P-4 pc. Are these speedsters a good drive to use? I used Plextor in my other pc and it cost almost twice as much as the Liteon!!!
please advise,
thanks,

Robert

I don't have any personal experience with Lite-On, but those in the know on PCMech have nothing but praise for them.
I ,believe, they are rebadged Plextors.

I have had 2 different liteon drives and they both worked flawlessly. I highly recommend them.

I have 3 Lite-On CD-RW's and they have been great, but I haven't had much luck with the cd-rom's.

I use LG or Lite-on in all my builds. Never had a return. Still have a 8x4x32 that gets used every day for backups.

I believe Plextors are based on the design of Lite-On's, but a bit beefier. Not that I think it warrants the extra cost.
I have the same liteon drive and never had a problem with it as other people in this forum will tell you it is very reliable

I have had mine for a year and will definitely buy another one if ever needed. With the Nero software that comes with them, I have yet to make a coaster!

Thanks guys for all your "valuable" input. Liteon 52x24x52 will be the chosen drive. Is the NERO software better than the ROXIO that Plextor includesa with their drives?
please advise,
thanks,

I used Easy CD Creator from Adaptec for a while and then switched to Nero. Nero seems to be a little bit simpler to use through the wizard, yet you can get really seriously into things if you want to, as your experience increases. Plus Nero has killer customer support. Just personal preference, there's nothing wrong with the other.

LiteOn CDRW's are awesome... about 95% of my builds go out with them and I will take Nero over EZ-CD anyday.

Thanks again for the good advice. Sounds like the Liteon Cdrw's are good machines; especially coming from the "HAL9000" !!

Nero is so much better, ezcd is overrated.

Hi Robertj,
I have both Plextor and Lite-On CD-RW's and would recommend a Lite-On CD-RW to anyone.
I prefer Nero to Easy CD Creator and I understand there are issues when using Easy CD Creator with WinXP.
