I'm pretty sure EIDE and IDE are the same thing.

Hi,

I assume that from your decision to purchase a CDRW, that your machine has the necessary specs to run the accompanying software, in which case you will have IDE connectors that are fully EIDE compatable. EIDE is a standard that was introduced many moons ago and most boards that can run a x486 chip have EIDE. If you can, just check out the board at the Manufacturers web site.

You don't mention what amount of memory you have, but for best practice try to get at least 256Mb in there, this will help your overall system cope with the stresses of *burning* your CD's and do other stuff while you are waiting.

BEWARE at the speeds that your burner will work, cheaper CD-R's and RW's may have undesired effects, it has been known for them to EXPLODE, whilst in the drive thus rendering the drive *DEAD*. I am not trying to scaremonger you, but these things have to be taken into consideration.

Best of luck with your buy, and I hope you enjoy mny years of BURNING.

ps I have Liteon 16x10x48 in another machine and it has given faultless service time and time again, even manages to get a good copy out of ropey discs. I use both Ezy and Nero depending on what I'm doing.

When you install it, try to keep the hard drives on IDE 1 and put the CD on IDE 2. Systems seem to work better with that configuration.
