I need to find a driver for the monitor on my new laptop. (I changed OS's from the manufacturer's, and now all it sees is a default monitor)
What are some of the best websites to find the driver I need?
Thanks!

www.driverguide.com and the manufacturer's website.

the laptop is a Compaq Presario 2105us. The manufacturer website has some drivers (including drivers for the video card), but doesn't have the monitor driver. I did a pretty thorough search there and came up with nothing. ( the support website is http://www29.compaq.com/falco/sp_list.asp?cat=Notebooks&fam=Presario )
thanks, I will try driverguide.com.
another question: how do I find out what kind of monitor I have? I stumbled across the name of it a couple days ago, but didn't write it down. Now I check device manager, and everywhere on my pc it only says "default monitor", plus on the manufacturer website, the "detailed specs" say: "14.1" XGA TFT (1024 x 768)"

I always do a google search being as specific as you can. Then if all else fails hit driverguide.
Default monitor should be just fine for a LCD, as long as it lets you set it to 1024x768. LCD's dont care about refresh rate - they don't flicker at 60 Hz like CRT's.
