Yes i just got my new powersupply yesterday, but havent put it in yet, I read up on it before i ordered, its a theramaltake xaser 480w psu, almost got a 350w enermax but used the psu calculator and found that im near or goin over 350w with every thing i got and plus im gonna be adding another hdd, posibly a baybus and 1 or 2 more fans. Also i found 1/4" chrome loom and ordered 10' of that, not sure if it will be enough tho. Heres the link if anyone wants that http://www.extremealterations.com/product_info.php?products_id=265

Its a great looking mod, but not very effective.

BTW - Nice looking insides, oddjob. What kind of case is that?

oddjob
10-18-2003, 04:32 AM
...Thermaltake DuctingMod on a stock heatsink. cpu - 46C idle, sys. temp 35C idle. No different than without the DuctingMod :( (granted, the "look" it gives me only cost me $15, and that was Canadian dollars! Not too bad.)

As for the case, alas it is just one of those generic ones that stores tag as their "house brand" with an oem 350W psu. Fortunately, I've never had any issues with it. It is a couple years old, and similar ones can be found here as the "house brand": http://www.eglobalbc.com/index.asp

Good guys, good prices, excellent service. Can't say enough good things about them. Best part is they are a 15 minute drive from my place!

Cheers!

I chrome loomed some of it and switched out the PSU. Added 3 more pictures showing the loom and new psu.

http://community.webshots.com/user/nocturnx

You can see in the pictures theres still alot of visible wires running along the top and bottom. How do you guys hide that? I used 1/4" loom, which is pretty small and it wont fit over the bulk of wires at the top. How do you guys hide the extra molex connectiors? You can see alot of wiring laying at the bottom of my case due to the UV light/ UV light switch and a power wire has to run to my 9500 Pro.

FLG
10-21-2003, 01:27 PM
nocturnx take a look at my case with the loom(click sig), i take some connectors and shove them in the drive bays, other ones i shove on the oppisite the window behind the mobo tray i will take some pics of the other side to show ya.

nocturnx
10-22-2003, 01:56 AM
I moved alot of wires around and moved my 13" uv light from running vertical along the back to running horizontal across the top and had to remount the switch for that but it looks alot cleaner now. Took me an hour to finish moving everything around and loom the rest. Used a total of 10' of loom. Ill get some new pics up soon.

When it comes to Modding... I am more nessecity over looks

More often than not, no-one is going to see your creation and its not like you can take it for walks around the park with you ! :)

Saying that I am quite envious over the sweet designs ive seen, Me, Myself if i did decide to mod mine i would create the ultimate MOD... It would order Pizza's, Brew Ale and much more

But alas, id rather spend my extra pennies on a hefty CPU-- :)

nocturnx
11-13-2003, 04:01 PM
hmm brew ale........thats genious! Ill hafta look into that.....calculating how much heat cpu and vid card give off.....hmm.....need to order hops, barley, and malt extract.....hmm do you think my cpu gets hot enough to boil water?......looks possible......bah my towers too small, oh well, thanks for the suggestion tho.

MAX452

There are screws on the backside of the front panel that holds the acrylic on . Just unscrew them , and insert your artwork buddy . It'll take a little time , but worth it .

nocturnx
11-13-2003, 10:16 PM
Yep I did it Max, I cut up my radeon 9500 Pro box with an exacto knife and put it under the acrylic panel. It looks pretty kool, ill hafta post some pictures. It took me a couple hours, what would be sweet is if i could stealth my drives and make the whole front of the case a picture :)

I subscribe to a lot of magazines , I see some cool case moddings in them and use my imagination as to what it wouuld take to do it that way . Other sources are like in these forums , ask around like your doing , you'll pick up ideas here and there . ;)

Is the front panel a type of Decal?

nocturnx
11-28-2003, 02:08 PM
The front is a clear acrylic panel that screws off. It had like just a piece of silver aluminum sheet behind it before, took that out, cut up my 9500 Pro box using the original peices of aluminum as a guide and put that in and screwed the acrylic panels back on over it.

Cool, you can chack if they sell bezels for the drive, much less painless than screwing up the drives (Noticed you have a DVDRW in there ;) )

I think the 9500 Pro and up in the Pro series need the extra connection because the card needs more power than the agp slot is designed to give.

Problem was, some fine fibres from the cushion got on the paint job so I had to lightly sandpaper the affected area. The finished job looks OK I guess.

Well, heres a quick pic of my old build. Pretty soon im getting a new case and moving all my stuff over. Its gonna be an awesome build. Gonna cut off a section of the top and turn it into a window, then chop off the op of my cd drive so you can see the cd spinning. Dunno, think I may stick some of those LED laser thingys up there to give it a cool effect.

Compman, thats a neat setup!

Here is my completed setup. Mods I did to it were the following:
(1) The temperature display on the front displayed temp in F. Soldered a part of the LCD circuit board to change it to C.
(2) Added a Cooler Master Musketeer
(3) Added two Cooler Master clear blue LED fans
(4) Sprayed the DVD-RW, DVD-ROM and floppy drive bezels silver
(5) Added a Vivanco blue neon light kit
(6) Changed the activity LED's on the DVD-RW, DVD-ROM and floppy drives all to blue LED's
(7) Changed the power LED and hard drive activity LED to blue LED's

Basically the whole case is now silver and ALL lights eminating from the case are blue.

Finished rig....

Hi guys,

Built a new rig. I'll be postin the pics of it shortly so keep watching this topic! It has 4 LED fans, one tricolour cathode, 3 directional laser LED and 2 neon multicolour bubble tubes running up the front of the case. U can check out my sig, its all in there. Cables are VERY messy, but some wire ties will clear this up!

i know this sounds very crazy, but would it be possible just to cover the green LED with say... blue ceran wrap? (dont laugh just an idea)

You simply de-solder the green LED and replace with a blue one. Remember that LED's have an anode and cathode so make sure you connect it the right way round or it won't work. Also, you'll need heat shrink tubing to cover over the solder job.

Hey Cricket, on page 6 you posted a pic of a lanboy build you had done for a friend... I personally have an antec lanboy and was wondering what you did with that (dare I say) ghetto neon green fan holder in the bottom right of the case. Did you just screw the fan into the case? (Neon green doesn't look too cool when mixed with blue led fan)

ComPman, looking at your case, i got a suggestion that should help clean some wires. I believe on that case, the HD's are side mounted, so instead of mounting them the way you have them(cables facing out) turn them around so you cant see the IDE or power cables. If theres not enough room, please correct me, since Im not sure if its true with that case.

Cricket, yeah, I know what you mean. LanBoy gets it done if all you want is a really compact light case, but the design is really weak. The aluminum is extremely flimsy... and that plastic front door :(, mine busted off as I had the door open and jumped to my pc a little too quick. Guess I'll be using that neon green fan holder as... um... well, I dont think it has any purpose, cant even make a decent coaster out of it.

12-24-2003, 04:39 PM
I have a Lanboy right now, I was dissapointed with it. I knew it would only have 2 fans which is no big deal to me. The front green fan holder is more work then just screwing a fan in. It would be nice if the window had a fan. It is a light case and does what it is meant to do, be able to move from place to place easy. It is for lan gamers so thats why it is light, to be able to carry easily.

Yikes! those bay reservoirs scare me. Especially right at the top like that. Imagine if there were a leak or your case got bumped or knocked over, there would be nothing left. I think i would rather have an external resevoir or no resevoir at all. Water cooling if kool tho, I'd like to do it if I had the funds and my case is kinda small and too cramped to do it.

Water cooling uses distilled water which barely conducts any electricity, but still is a risk, as soon as i get the money im going to get watercooling, which is very very soon.

Mr N8
03-01-2004, 04:57 PM
IMO, watercooling is a great concept, and has very practical applications. However, with the money that is put into it, just to overclock your cpu and possibly video card, why not just upgrade your system to something that intended to run at those speeds in the first place?

mr n8, i dont want to go ot with this but a watercooling system is 150-200 bucks. lets say you have a p4 2.4. you wanna overclock to 3.06 lets say. (i dont really know the math on ocing but i know money.) to buy a p4 3.06 and more fans/more powerful fans will prolly be over that. with amd they are alot cheaper to buy so you could prolly find a new one with the speeed you want for less than watercooling.

sorry to get ot

I have some newer updated photos... still not finished, but I am excited to be completing it. Waiting on my Panaflo fans, then I need some sound insulation. I also need to smooth out the around the fans, where I cut the stamped grills out.

My digital camera has an extremely quick shutter, these fans were moving as fast as they could and they look like the were not in the pic.

Propain did you take out and turn around the hard drive bays so that they are not facing the side of the case. If so how did you do it cause it would clear up my cable probems like not other. Also god call on getting rid of the keybaord and mouse i was just about to tell you to watch how much you hit the space bare cause mine broke.

nope, RAN, the drives are in as they are in as they are supposed to be. facing the front. someone advised me to take pics with the lights off and no flash so that neons would be seen :( oooopppsy didnt know that.

I also had to remove my ducting mod since it made the HSF hit the window fan. :(

I need to figure out how to make the hdd bay face front cause mine face the side. If i can remove the bay i imagine i can turn it around.

Looks kool. Did you have something in that empty bay?

This is my newest build. The case is lit with UV light inside, although the pictures were taken in darkness, the flash cuts down on the "glow" effect....anyway, I like it

Front (http://members.aol.com/Ingramdis/private/Comp01)

Top (http://members.aol.com/Ingramdis/private/Comp02)

Side (http://members.aol.com/Ingramdis/private/Comp03)

I know most people probably don't like the fanbus on the front, but I prefer it over thermostatically controlled....

No its just some little home made window thing I made so you can see in from the front, I know the pictures don’t show it so well but there is actually a bit of clear plastic its not just a gap straight into the pc. I am thinking of getting a cheap temperature gage and putting it behind the plastic then having it lit up by LED's when the pc is running I just need to find the time

P.S.

Nice pc Redfallon
