This is a reply to the question about the MOB I have, it has really given me no problems the two years I have had it, except the cooling fan on the chipset started making a noise like it was dragging and I had to replace it, when I did I had to jump the CMOS back to default settings, then reset BIOS, everything is now working again. It suites all I do very well. Got 512 more memory today, added to the 256 I had. built it myself and it is a whole lots better than the TI 99 4A I started out with, whopping 16 bytes of memory back then. Regards; usa67us.

Hey Cricket, I see that you're way out in the ocean so perhaps you don't get the commercials we do here on the main land. That's the latest buzz phrase in beer ads. Means awesome.

er, you are how old, 14?? where is the money coming from?
Yea, im 14 but i was the kid who would not use his money, so his parents put it away for him. (Birthday, Newyears, Christmas, Allowance, etc.) if you save your money, they really add up. And right now im getting paid $500 a month to babysit 2 kids, that are a PAIN in the ARSE. 5 days a week for 4 hours, im getting paid like $6.5 an hour not even minimum wage...

Ryan2318
03-01-2003, 09:42 PM
how much is min wage now? 6.50 seems over min wage

Force Flow
03-01-2003, 09:46 PM
I thought minimum wage was about $5.50 - $5.75 or somewhere thereabouts.

Ryan2318

scott_d
03-01-2003, 11:12 PM
well, when i worked at Valentino's pizza, i got 6.50, and that was good for entry level

But! back on track now, lets get some more pics!
I painted my case this weekend, not a very good pic, so i'll get some more sometime.
The whole thing was green, so i decided to accent it with a little silver in the middle.

im trying to think of a cool window design, not just one of those plain rectangles and such for a chieftec. I don't want it to be a logo or something, because im trying to go for a nice techy look but keep the window big enough to see through easily. Heres what im thinking i might do:

what do you guys think, any other ideas?

I never knew we had so many kids my age. I'm 15 and I'm currently BUILDING not working on saving the money, BUILDING a system with a chieftec full tower dragon with window, 2200+ AMD, TT Silent PSU, a really crappy K7S5A motherboard, 512 MB DDR Ram, 64 MB nVIDIA GE force 4, etc. I cut a lot of grass during the early spring and summer. Velker that looks like a cool idea to me. And I don't think it would be that hard to cut, I could do it with my Dremel in a few hours. Nothing really intricate there. I assume you're gonna use one big sheet of lexan/plexi and not a bunch of little ones, right?

Thanks i3OSS. I have no idea what brand it is...I bought it on eBay for $75 shipped and it came with a 450W PSU, a red & blue LED clear case fan, and a power supply tester.

I was very skeptical at first about buying it on eBay but it's been working fine for me. The PSU brand is Rhycom....I don't this it's a very good one. i3OSS the link your showing is for a different case. And how much is shipping for it? I paid $50 plus $25 for shipping with a some extras. I wouldn't say I got ripped...I got what I paid for.:D

LOL I got my Antec Performance case for $10 with PSU. I live right by MWAVE and every once in a while they will have a parking lot sale. It was $10 because it was a scratch and dent case. the dent was in the back left corner that I fixed with pliers. I can't even see it now. :D Oh and I3OSS, I like having it on when I sleep. It lights my whole room red. ;)

I'm not sure what you mean by baybus but if your talking about the fan controller it's a Vantec Nexus and you can get one off of newegg in silver or black. The only thing I don't like about it is that the knob lights don't dim or tun off at low settings. But it does help a lot for controlling that disturbing fan noise.

I built this one for my friend it was a budget build with about 800 bucks. It is a AMD 2400 XP 512 RAM 80 GB HD Sony DVD Memorex CDRW and a custom mounted TV Tuner. I have a custom cut window which was a pain to install. I put a red cold cathode in it with a custom mounted switch. My favorite part of this was a custom mounted fan in the extra drive bay area with a custom plexiglass cover to hold it breathes nicely.

TechSupport420
04-11-2003, 01:56 PM
this one is my favorite. I built it for my girlfriend for christmas, she is going into graphic design and needed a computer so I put this together for her. It doesn't have many stealth mods or anything but it has a 2.2Ghz P4 with a Asus mobo 512 MB 60 GB HD blue cold cathode custom window matching keyboard and Wacom graphics pad. The best part is the custom paint job with our names on it on the side of the case.

Yeah Yeah, here ya go:

http://home.neo.rr.com/deviance/mah_case_outside_1.jpg

The original image was 520k, so I had to pull down the size and save it for the web, brining it down to about 93k. Inside the case is a Radeon 9700 Pro, ECS Thundering Digital Sound Card and then a IBM NiC - which has LEDs wired to the front of the case. Yes, the case is a bit dusty, fans & sound card included. I need some filters I do believe... but yeah, the wiring it better than what I've seen myself in other cases.

And Yes I installed it myself from a sheet of plexiglass, I did not bought a kit, the only thing I bought is the molding. The hole was made using a jigsaw and the blowholw using a holesaw. I can post you dimensions if you want

i3OSS - don't use rubber bands, the heat inside the case dries them out fast and they will rot and break - and stick to the wires. Use plastic cable straps or twist ties.

the point of having neat, clean case wiring is so that things cool off better since wires are not all on top of them and blocking airflow.

I would look to invest in a decent power supply for that case djdannylee.

The case is worth the money but the PSU is probably a £10.00 ($US15.00) no namer. Where did you get? Was it a computer fair or online.

Take a look at

Overclockers.co.uk (http://www.overclockers.co.uk) they have some great PSU's and yes they may cost a little more, but you will at least get piece of mind.

The Live Drive comes with the Live and Audigy Platinum sound cards. It's only compatible with Creative cards that have the 40 (I think) pin header on the sound card, the cable looks just like a standard IDE cable. If you can find one separately, I hear that they are costly.

KronoLeginaire

sure you can make one...

I hope you like the ideal of the thing and its functionality, not its looks, because you won't end up with something that looks anything like a live drive. At the most you can put 1 headphone and 1 microphone jack on the front of your case.

I don't know of any baybuses that have headphone jacks on them..

everyone here has a great system. i30ss yours is good. Here is the complete picture of my desktop. I like the paint job. I would like to do it too. Now here is the hard part. At my place: I know water cooling is still not available, and people here don't mod their case(except me and a few other geeks). For the paint. Is there any special paint I must get? Like the characteristics of the paint? What type of stores that sell them?
I heard that you need to leave the case 1 week before use, Is it that long?
Like the dektop?:D I just mix 2 speakers together. About the casing: actually I am one of the very few who makes this weird case. When I bought the components-everyone is looking at the stuff-apparently they have not seen a glass case. I really like one of the pictures I saw-the sony monitor screen. Maybe after this monitor is unusable(3 years) then I get a LCD(hopefully its cheap that time).

Looks great! I want to put chrome loom on my wires, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. What size did you use for the power supply wires? Thanks!

I uses 3/8" for the leads going to the HDD's but I'd rather use 1/2" I just didn't have enough cash on me when I went to the auto parts store.

Why would you want 1/2 as opposed to 3/8? I thought the smallest size that fit was the best.

For the power leads the 3/8 will work, but I will be adding 2 SATA drives here soon and will need the extra space to feed another power feed to the drives which will go below my 2 HDD that I have now. You could do what I did and just go with 10' of 1/4 and 10' of 3/8 and see if it works for you.

Will the power supply wires fit though 1/4"?

It will so long as you don't have to double it up inside the loom to hide any excess wire.

Alright, thanks for all the info! I think i'll go with the 1/4" chrome then...I want the smallest possible.

Here she is. The power cables are still a mess right now, i need to get some of that chrome tubing also. I have a second harddrive im adding, thats why the one round cable has so much slack. I also got a new 480w thermaltake psu ill be putting in sometime this week. Im open to any suggestions on how to hide all those power cords. Oh and when u check out the picks dont laugh, i named my computer Wyvern.

Cheapie case with premodded window added some fun mods for stealthing drives without using an eraser tip (the 2 buttons under floppy control open/close of optical drives) Loomed every bit of wire in the case to the point of being anal retentive. Added a 120mm blowhole to the top which cools the case down to a nice 25C at idle 27 under load. Couldn't think of any more mods to add to case so i painted in insides with UV reactive paints.

Nice nocturnx but i recommend getting rid of that L&C psu they die prematuerly and usually take something with it, get a good quality psu like Enlight,Antec, sparkle, enermax just to name a few, i'd hate to see a comp like that get ruind by a psu.

Sorry can't seem to get a pic to post so i will give ya a nice link for inexpensive black loom
http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?category=860&type=store

10 ft for 1.20 compared to 1 ft for .99 at the computer mod places.I would also suggest getting the 4in cable ties in black while you are there they match up very well. I hope this link is helpful to some of you who want to organize your wiring and have a budget like i do.
