Please help anyone..........recently trying to install this product I have had all kinds of problems, but mostly lockups when trying to install it..( a quick note os is win 98se with a p4 @ 2.0, w/512 mg with a optorite cd-rw model cw4002..
Here is what I tried :
1) loaded complete prog. ( no drive found)..lockup on reboot
2) uninstalled in safe mode (reboots ok!)
3) reinstalled prog. w/o direct cd (no drive found of course ) this is a folder that be chosen not be installed in custom install and the program loads ok! no lockup @ reboot
4) downloaded latest updates.. one for program and one drivers, but they are not helping at least not how I'm using them
5) I think it's a sequencing thing..so many choices.. I'm not sure if you load prog. as step3 reboot add updates,reboot...so and so on..install under safe mode..so and so on
A note: I installed the bare bones version which is easy cd creator 5.2 a "light version " and it found a writeable drive and displayed it in prog. dialog box..Optorite cw4002 or something like that...
Any help with this greatly appreciated I'm sick of lockingup this poor thing up (ran win tools: system file checker , defrag. scan disk, all ok!)
Thankyou......

When you're trying to install it, do you have any other programs running in background?
Try cleaning out the Windows Temp folder...remove everything in it.
Try scanning for viruses, spyware, scumware, malware and trojans before installing Easy CD Creator.
You might want to give Nero Burning ROM a try...seems to have much less issues than Easy CD Creator.

Honestly my best advice is to go to the website and lookup how to manually uninstall the whole program. Then buy Nero and use it. I fought ez cd-creator for a couple of days after XP came out. Some people run it with success I guess but I have yet to see it run well under XP no matter what updates were installed.
I have grown to like Nero better than I ever did ez cd-creator.

Thank you to those who replied !
It looks like I'm going to can this prog. and try Nero...I tried to start 'puter this am ! and got a system registry error...... I let micky ware reboot 'puter and got all kinds of issues..... good thing the the prog. seems to have a good uninstall in it because that was the only way ( removing in safe mode ) I could get my 'puter back.....
thanks again

From what I have seen, since Roxio bought out Adaptec, most CD-RW manufactures have dumped them in favor of Nero. Not only is it cheaper, but Nero manages to see the newest drives, where as EZ-CD needs an update all the time. And given that Roxio has trouble coming up with updates.
I bought a full version of EZ Platinum a when it first came out and I quit using it when I bought my first 24x burner (after they had been out for a while and the price had came down) and even with the patch it would not support the drive.
IMHO it is an over-priced under-supported program.
More and more burners are shipping with Nero now - the only Roxio I've seen lately has been 5.3 Standard with some LG drives - and those who don't ship with Nero are mostly using NTI, which is a decent program.

Thanks dicktsite for asking this question. I thought that it might be my system (ok, don't laugh)- - T2042 eMachine with WinXP and a Samsung CD-R/RW SW240B - - that was causing the problem. I didn't have any problem installing the software (the basic version) or getting the patch, but the ``write`` function doesn't want to work or when it does, it takes forever. I really didn't think that doing simple file backups - mostly drag and drop - were supposed to be that hard. And I was really ticked that the pc at work, which uses Roxio basic, copied files to CD very quickly and easily.
So, the consensus is , , , that it's the Roxio software and I need to uninstall that and go to the Nero software? ? Does Nero have disc copy capability? ? What is the difference or preference of the board, if any, between Nero and Stomp software? ? ? ?
You (collectively) are lifesavers. Plus you have kept me from calling BB and swearing profusely at their tech-support dept.
Thanks greatly for the help!!

Funny I have easy CD Creator 5 Platinum, running it on WinXP Home version on my new system I put together a month ago.
I have absolutley no issues what's so ever. Maybe it is because I bought it when it first came out, about 2 yrs ago. I also have Nero not sure what version came with my new Liteon burner. I have it for a back up.

and I'm running it Roxio 5.2 > on 7 XP home systems, 2 2000Pro systems and at least 20 98se/ME systems and have not had a single problem to date. I have been using Adaptec/Roxio since ver.2 1997 and have only ever had a problem once with a Memorex Maxx24 CDRW drive. I also use Nero, Clone CD, Alcohol, Feurio etc and the funny thing is nobody ever mentions all the bugs/issues there are or has been with Nero.
Proper PC setup, good hardware and correct installation practices will prevent most problems people have or claim to have with Roxio.

I also am running the same software on both w98se and xp-pro with no problems at all I do suspect thay you do have something not quite right in your system,
did you have any problems installing w98 at all, ?
Maybe somebody else can do it. But I can't get Roxio Easy CD 5 to work with Windows 98 SE worth beans. Sometimes, I can get an install that works like a champ. But most of the time it works like a chump.
I use Easy CD 4 with Windows 98 SE and Easy CD 5 with XP.
