Hey, my friend told me that "Drive D: corrupted" appeared when he tried to load a cd, i would go over his house and try securing the cables but im too busy so i was wondering if there is a way to fix this problem over the phone.

sorry need more info to answere the question,
the hard drive can be partitioned into several partitions and are labled starting with c and the second one will be d and so on...
so I can only think that what ever he is running on the d drive is bad or missing, not knowing what it is, the only suggestion I can give at this time is to format it and reload what ever he had on it'
if we could get a bit more information on what all he has and what is on the d drive, maybe we can give you a better way to fix it
I would assume that D is the CD drive if it says it's corrupted when he tries to load a CD. Run a lens cleaner through the drive and clean the fingerprints and crap off the CD. Try the burner, see if that works to load the CD.

OH, D: is his CDRW and both opticals dont work. its not the cd because he tried other cds. The lens cleaner will do?

strang that two drives will go bad at the same time ?

what do you mean by strang?
If both opticals are on the same IDE channel, time to check the cables - and device manager for controller problems.
I'm a bit hesitant to use a lens cleaner in a burner, it's last resort, too easy to knock the laser out of alignment. Standard CD readers seem to be more tolerant to use of these things.

yea, i guess that too. maybe the cable is starting to die or the ide slot is loose or something. but i really doubt and dont recommend him opening up his case.
