Hello,
I did the pcpitstop the other night and I received a warning that spyware called backweb was running and I needed to disable it. I tried deleting it wherever I could find it (registry, startup etc) and now when I boot up I get a little note that something can't find something associated with backweb, which I can live with.
I googled it and came up with not a lot except it is contained in a lot of various programs, but nothing that I saw about eliminating it. Ideas?
I run adaware and I get that ladhide3.dll can't be deleted. I tried rebooting etc and it still won't go away...
I don't like this behind the scenes crap as I never know when the wheels will fall off and the system crashes maybe cause of some program I didn't install and, between my two sons' and those gamesites, I never know whats lurking. That's why I depend on ad-aware and anti virus software...I rant, forgive me..
Any info is appreciated.
Thanks

The only "backweb" I've experienced is on the company laptops which connect through a network. Backweb runs in the background if they're issuing updates on some things.

From another site:
A program called BackWeb.exe has come to our attention. You may want to keep an eye out for it running quietly in the background on your PC.
Whilst it's not a virus ( no virus program will ever uncover it) it's also not a Spy ware program, so Adware will not uncover it ether!
It is infact a generic, background downloading tool, and it's task is to download data, without your knolowage.
So how might 'Ladhide3.dll' get on to your system, beleave it or not one way is if you have a Kodak digital camera and installed the sync-software updater.

Hello,
Before I posted above note I did a search and removed all I could remove that was obviously associated with Backweb,(there was a program that it wouldn't let me remove), ran ad-aware- the ladhide3 wouldn't go away.
After removing all the Backweb that it would let me remove, rebooting, ran ad-aware, (so I could write down the ladhide3, cause I couldn't remember it) - it let me remove ladhide, after reading ya'lls posts, for kicks, I ran a search for Backweb found the exe program that I previously couldn't remove and it allowed me to delete it.!
Interesting... now no Backweb and no ladhide3.dll
I feel better;)
Thanks
ps I don't have any Kodak dig camera.. I got a feeling ladhide might be lotsa places...
not a good thing.
