Hello all,

I'm looking at this page:

http://www.coolerguys.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=001&Category_Code=CS-Wind

First, is there any difference between the Black Chenming and the Black CaseMaxx 610?

Second, does anybody have one of these cases? If so, do you like it? Or, if you don't have one, do they look alright? I'm a little hesitant to spend $100 on a case when I only have a 2 inch picture of it....

Thanks for the help!

Every manufacture and their mother has a case that looks like these now. Some for less money and some for more. To be different if you do not need a full height server case you might want to look at this case from Enermax, I just finished a build with one.

The only problem I have with that case is the front. I doubt there are Floppy/CD/DVD drive covers that match the silver on the front of the case. Am I wrong? That window's a bit too...flowery also :)

I used black drives with the build, but you can get a metallic silver at places like directron. The black looked great though.
The case came with a blue light, but I added another green light with a siwtch set-up that allowed the owner to change to green. Then I moved the clear side fan to the read and installed an led lite fan.
The front lights change color all the time.

It looks like there's water/air bubbles in the front of the case...there isn't, is there?

No water or fluid, instead it is a plastic with air bubbles lock in it back lit by varous color LEDs that go white, red, blue green.

I have this case and its great. Here is the link to where I purchased it for $126.00

;)

This is the mobo I plan to install:

or as a combo
http://www.aicmicro.com/Customize.asp?system=MOTHERBOARD%20COMBO-INTEL%20P4%20PC1066%20Rambus%20BUNDLE

AICMicro is a good reputable company. Take notice that they have the BBB reliability stamp on their website. I have checked them out from the Better Business Bureau as I check out all companies I order from.

I have ordered the case, HD, floppy drive and CD-RW drive from them...all packaged very good and shipped from them quickly.

Jerry - that's a great motherboard, but are you sure you want a RDRAM board? Compare it to the Asus P4PE series, it uses DDR SDRAM, which is dirt cheap right now and should perform just as well unless you are using this build for a server or a professional graphics workstation.

Just a suggestion.

Hi glc,

I plan on using it not only for game playing but also for graphics, I have Photoshop, Flash and Corel, graphics tablet and plan on getting 3dmax in the future as the price drops. I also do alot of multitasking between these programs and also web programs. I would hate to short change myself in the memory category with problems of running out of memory like on my current computer (383ram) resulting in freezing up on me cause of lack of memory.

My son will also use it to make maps for Counter-Strike.

You are going to run a RDRAM machine out of memory just as fast as a DDR machine, the only way to keep a machine from "running out of memory" is throw more memory at it, not throw theoretically faster memory at it.

A pair of 512mb PC2700 DDR modules is about $120 right now - a pair of 512mb PC1066 RDRAM modules is $470 and a set of 4 256mb PC1066 RDRAM's is $420. No way in my mind the minor improvement is worth $300+. Even a set of 4 256mb PC800's is $340 and PC2700 DDR will pretty much keep up with PC800 RDRAM.

I'm not trying to start an argument or anything like that, it's just I think you may be choosing RDRAM for the wrong reasons.

Look at virtual-hideout they have a listing of over 50 sites most with cases. case-mod and directron have cool cases and according to the link in the original question the more exspensive one includes a clear fan and weighs 1 pound more?
