I want to get a usb2.0 motherboard but my case has 2 front usb1.1 can I attach the 1.1 ports to 2.0 motherboard slots???

What case and motherboard brand.
Most of the boards are intel standard with the onnection pins being

vcc
- data
+data
GND

this holds for USB 1.1 and 2.0. However some boards and cases use another connection pattern. so let me know.

Asus use the Intel standard, but changes the name slightly. so here is what your manual states (left) and Intel standard (right)

USB + 5 = +Vcc
LDM = Data -
LDP = Data +
GND = GND
NC = NC = (no Connection)

cant you use a USB 1.1 socket and hook it up to USB 2.0, or will it still work at 1.1?

Basically, USB 2.0 includes everything that USB 1.1 offers and adds a high-speed mode, which runs at 480Mbps. USB 1.1 supports two speed modes: 1.5 and 12Mbps whereas USB 2.0 has three of them: 1.5, 12 and 480Mbps. USB 2.0 also uses the same USB 1.1 compliant cables to connect high-speed devices. However, classic USB hubs will slow down USB 2.0 devices. In addition, a USB 2.0 host controller is required to enable the high-speed connection with a USB 2.0 device.

USB 2.0 hubs are now given a lot more work to do than USB 1.1 as they need to handle all the traffic from three different speed mode devices. Plugging a USB 1.1 device to a USB 2.0 hub is okay, but connecting a USB 2.0 device to a USB 1.1 hub is prohibited.

what i meant is, if you have USB on your case, can you hook the wires up to USB2 pins on your motherboard to get the USB1.1 plugs to work at USB2

If USB 2 uses the same cables and plugs as USB 1.1, plus the motherboard connectors are wired the same, then the ports on your case when hooked to a USB 2.0 capable MOBO would now be USB 2.0 compliant.

Aren't USB2.0 ports more square then 1.1. like the 1.1 are rectangle and 2.0 is square qith 2 rounded corners

I think what you're thinking about are just the two different types of plugs for usb, regardless of whether it's 1.1 or 2.0. The ends are referred to as "A" or "B", but i'm not sure which is which. With printers, the flat rectangular end plugs into the computer and the square end with the 2 rounded corners plugs into the printer.
