Alrighty guys... here goes ......I'm trying to network my computer to my shop outside which is 150ft away....what are my best options?wireless,or cable or feel free to comment.I'm running windows me...dsl modem...i think thats bout it

I would run a cable underground in plastic pipe, you wil get the full 100bps .
if you went wireless you will only get 10bps

also it would be less money to run the cable

But ethernet is still my favorite choice.
Wireless can work at that distance.
Wireless will be a faster set up, less work

Wireless will probably cost a bit more.

You talk about a shop 150' away. What type of shop? What type of construction? Metal or wood frame? Metal walls can play havoc with wireless. Anything there that can cause interference with wireless signal?

Personally because of uncertaines, I would use cable if there is a viable way to get it there.

As far as the cabling option....fiber optic is recommended any time that you are running cable outside of a structure even if it is underground.

Fiber can be quite expensive, though.

cat5 underground in pvc pipe is just fine and very cheap

its a wooden building now, but after i network and startputting more valuble stuff in it, i will convert it to metal...so i think i'll make my own cable and just run it underground ...thanks guys
