mcafee loads but not listed in task manager [kinda long]

Hi all -

My mom called me last week & said she got a bunch of returned e-mails she never sent. Her mouse has been "jerky" (optical...ms I think) & the clock is losing time while pc running. Ok after restart. I went to her house & did online virus scan w/Panda (symantac won't work because even tho I enabled activeX it keeps telling me it's disabled...but that's a whole other story :rolleyes: ) Panda found the iframe/exploit in temp. which it cleaned. I ran it again & found nothing (but she had 128,000+ files!!) I had to C-A-D for some reason or other & noticed there were no macafee files in task manager (vshwin, v.., etc.), but it's showing in tray. I rebooted, same thing.

Is that normal? Could her mouse be going bad? I replaced it with regular mouse for now. She has a Compaq, Windows M, on roadrunner, using ZA. I uninstalled Mcafee & loaded AVG...

Anything else I should look for/do?

i think you made a wise decision switching to avg,i used mcafee for a couple years and it was a headache i now use avg two years,works great.has it been okay since the switch or is it still having trouble.

McAfee is the world's best written virus. It will screwup any computer if left on it long enough.
