If it starts to get past 60 degress celcius it might be time to see if they are any obvious things you could do.

Load should be less then 60C
Although it can withstand up to 90C if its above 60C under load do something about it.
EDIT: Dangit you beat me :( :D

I prefer my computers to run around -50 degrees F since they are all AMD CPUs and everyone knows what a disaster in waiting they are! I mean fire, melted cases, 2nd degree burns from setting next to them without wearing a racing firesuit and nomex hood. But alas I have never been able to get the temp down to this.
This is a highly overblown issue. So if
The computer is not locking up.
The computer is not acting funny.
You are fine and do not need to do anything.
Also do yourself a favor and uninstall any software temp monitor program you have and enjoy your computer.
I will tell you, other that the first 30 minutes or so after i first turn a new build on, I could not tell you what temp my 2100 is running at. Why, you may ask? Because it will start to act funny if it starts to overheat and not do any damage as long as the HSF did not fall off. And this includes the overheating due to a dead HSF fan. And second, I am too busy playing games and surfing to set around an stare at a temp monitor waiting for it to go up!
Use the computer and don't worry about it.

ROFL!! I'm with ya 100% morriswindgate!! My new mobo and 2700+ are not more than a week and a day old, and already my temp utility (Probe) has been turned off for almost a week!!

PS: AMD gave me my choice of colors for my nomex hood... how 'bout you??
I opened up a customer's old K6-2/350 the other day to add some ram and change out a nic - and found that the CPU fan was seized. No idea how long it had been this way, but the machine was running fine. I tossed a new $8 Coolermaster HSF on it and pressed on.

Id not be too bothered, if its there to watch, you get paraniod, if its running fine, dont sweat about it.
I dont normally watch my temps, but with my old HSF they got real hot, my old fan failed so I installed PC Alert to make sure it wasnt going well high, and so if it throttled back, i would know at what temp it did it, for future reference. After the fan failed, the temps soared to like 66, nothing happened.
In fact the only reason i have left it installed is because I had a few AS3 application troubles with my replacement.
Its so much harder than it looks!
