HTML Dropdwon menus

i have a drop down of 12 colours for the user to select. What i want is the word red in the dropdown to be coloured red, and the word green to be green etc.

I've seen this done but cant remember where and need help!!

any ideas?

Don't know if this will work, but try giving each OPTION of the dropdown its own style, like:
<OPTION VALUE="red" STYLE="COLOR: RED;">red</OPTION>
