...why would you want to have 2 NIC's? I've seen that some people have two and i'm just wondering why. can you speed up your internet connection by connecting both up to the router or what? I have no clue why you would want 2.

edit: i'm guessing all you could do is patch it over to another computer instead of buying a router

The only reason to have 2 nics is to share broadband without a router - you plug the modem into one and plug the other into a hub or switch - and use ICS or some other proxy to share.

if you have a router--- one nic in each system

if no router, then the pc that connects to the internet modem with a nic, then use a software driven server with another nic to hook other systems.
