Hello, I have excel 97 and am having a problem getting the formulas to work(multiplication). I have entered them correctly but when I enter the info, nothing happens in the row where the calculation is supposed to appear. But when I press F9(calculates everything on the page), the calculations work. Is there something that needs to be turned on or off to get the formulas to automatically calculate?
Thanks for your help,
Ron

There is a setting somewhere to calculate formulas right away, without hitting F9; don't remember where it is thought, others will jump in here....

I ran into the same thing a few years ago.

OK, I'm on excel 2000 but I think '97 works the same way:

Go to "Tools" > "Options" >"Calculation" tab and change the setting to "automatic". That should solve your problem.

("Tools" is a drop down menu)

just had a look at my Office 97 here at work and this is the same as above. That should do it for you.
