I am looking into a new cpu fan and I was wondering if this is very quiet. I heard volcanos are good but I want to see how quiet this is. Does anyone know? Heres a link

Volcanos are good but are noisy as a Concorde.

I haven't tested the 11 tho, hope it lives up to the expectations.

Get a Thermalright SLK-800 or 900 and get a nice quiet 80mm fan that puts out alot of airflow, but not with alot of db.

I would like to keep it cheap. The heat sink is not a problem though. I am not currently having a problem with heat, just noise. I would like something cheap, quiet. It would be cool if I got one that looks cool but is not a must. ;)

DrZ has also been recommending the "flower HSFs". He sez they are quiet and provide good cooling. Too bad I can't get those here. :(

http://www.coolerguys.com and check out the Mechatronics CPU fan. I have it..Quiet..Moves a lot of air..Cools down my CPU pretty good actually.

Thermaltake Volcanos are notoriously loud. I had one (volcano 7 i believe) in Joshua's case for a while, and it was the loudest thing in the house, even louder than the kids themselves most of the time.

Volcanoes are actually quite quiet if you keep the fan speed down.

To get rid of noise, the best options are to get a Zalman flower HSF like NK mentioned, or just keep your current heatsink and use a 60mm-to-80mm adaptor and stick a Panaflo L1A fan 80mm fan on top.

Ya I will probably keep my heat sink but I am not sure yet. ;) Any suggestions on case fans?

EDIT: I just looked at the flower an I might just get that. It isn't very expensive and it looks cool. ;) Thanks guys for your help. Now if I can just find a quiet case fan. I am currently using the the ones that came with my Antec case ant they are very loud.

Then I would have to say that the one in the link directly above would be overkill, and noisey. Going from memory, that CPU only need about 24 - 28 CFM to say cool with a decent HS.

I've used units identical in appearance to the one Cricket posted, and they run very quite, had about 34 CFM and thererfore cooled good, too.

For case fans, PardeGT posted this link (http://www.svc.com/80nmb253pinf.html) to some ultra quiet (18dBA!) NMB 80mm x 25mm case fans. NMB is a good quality brand that has been around a long time. Their fans are solid and just run and run and run.

I have a "Thermaltake Volcano 9" and I love it. They do the trick better than anything I have used so far. My processor chip runs very hot and this is the only fan I have found that fits properly and cools properly.

Indeed they are loud, but you can adjust the speed of the fan manually while in BIOS looking at your temps to see where you can set the fan at while not getting a lot of noise. Although it is your decision... Good luck!

I have tested the TT smart case fans and they sound quiet to me.

:D I do believe that is just a case fan, not a HS fan. Regardless, at only 18CFM it would not have enough air flow to run the CPU cool. It should be at least 25 (approx) CFM or better.

I think (not sure) that the fan on my 2700+ is about 34 CFM, and it cools good and is quite. It's the stock fan, BTW.
