This little thing just got caught up in the firewall, "livenote.exe. Anyone know what it is?

Probably a trojan of some sort.

Try looking in the symantec database www.symantec.com

I finally found it. Livenote.exe is a file bundled into my Asus video drivers. I found it here http://www.windowsxp-drivers.com/drivers/77/77798.htm .
I could not stand not knowing what it was, so for now I'll assume it is benign and allow it to access through the firewall.

I was right - but it looks like there is more than one Livenote - I sure didn't find anything having to do with Asus when I did my search.

I just searched again - I found it as being part of the driver as you did, but I can't find out its function. I don't think I'd assume it's benign without more info. Legit, yes - benign, who knows.
