Hi all,
I have a case I bought on eBay with 4 fans included in it, but have no idea where to hook them up...no, I see the places to put them, but 2 are in the bottom front of the puter, behind the front cover...does this sound reasonable? I don't think they would pull in air, or have a place to blow it out. Also, do I attach them with the sticker logo facing out, or inside?
Thanks a bunch!

Basic case cooling setup is front fan (or fans) as intakes (bringing cool air into case) and the rear fan (or fans) as exhausts (to remove warmed up air from case).
Look on the side of the fan body...there are arrows showing direction the fan blades spin and which direction it blows.
When installed in the case, the arrows on all the fans will be pointing in the same direction...towards the back of the case.

Cricket,
These fans don't have arrows at least not that I can see...they are clear, and the logo on the front says SODA. The sticker on the one side has a logo and the spec info, as well as the web addy
www.atxpower.com.tw
the part no. is DFS802512M
Don't know if this helps at all or not...

The arrows are normally molded into the fan body, it's not a sticker.
Look at the fan...one side will have some braces that hold onto the center of the fan (usually 3 or 4), the other side won't have these braces. The fan will blow in the direction of the braces.

The Sunon fans I use have the label on the outlet side - so you would mount them with the labels facing the back of the case.

Yes glc!! That's right...a label!!! I'm sorry, Cricket, that was the confusion...The label is what I was referring to, and as glc says, the outlet side (I'm assuming to be where the wiring comes out) is on the same side...so for all four fans, the labels would face the back of the puter? Ok, now the questions that make me obvious as a new guy...
1. I have four fans, but from what I can see, only 3 places to mount them...two in the front, one in the back...am I missing something??
2. Is four fans (or three, for that matter) overkill?
3. The fan mounting holes aren't threaded...is this normal?
4. The front two are behind the power button casing in the front...how are these fans supposed to bring in any air?
5. I noticed something...there is a power switch on the back of the puter, and also what appears to be a power button in the front, along with a reset button...Am I just dumb about this stuff???
Thanks for everything guys!!!
Michael
1. Probably not.
2. Yes. One in front and one in back is usually plenty.
3. Yes. You use nuts and bolts, or self-threading screws that bite into the plastic fan holes. Some cases have fan cages that you snap the fans into with no screws.
4. They suck air from the bottom - there should be space between the plastic bezel and the metal frame. Some bezels have perforated holes in them.
5. The switch on the back removes all power from the system - ATX has power on the motherboard even when the system appears "off".

But you did notice the wires on the back of the fan...that would be a good indication as to which side the fan blows to.
