Case Fan Positions

Ok i have a case that supports 4 80mm case fans in the front, 2 80mm fans on the side, and 1 60mm in the back. The Fans on the side are pushing out, what should the others be set at for optimum cooling? Should more air be taken in or pushed out, currently i have all the fans pushing out. Please let me know what is going to be the best for my comp. Thanks

Front = Intake, Rear = Exhaust, Side = any way you want.
But the real questions is > Did you buy all the BS about AMD CPUs running so hot that you need this many fans to keep it from burning your house down?

Front fans will blow in and should be mounted as close to bottom as possible (to bring in cool air). Rear fans will blow out (to expel heat) and should be located as near to top as possible (hot air rises). I would split them between front and back.

Keep in mind that more fans equal more noise. Probably one in front and one in rear is plenty.

Currently I am running an AMD processor with 1 front intake, 1 side intake, and 1 side output. That suffiently cools everything but If you have space in top back definetly put a fan there. Personally, I think side intake works better than front but that is just my opinion. Plus, air outside your case is much cooler than that inside.

That case has a 60mm fan port on the rear?

I would set up the fans to have a little more exhaust than intake. Since you only have a 60mm fan on the rear for exhaust, I would set up the side fan to exhaust too. 1 fan in front for intake and block off the unused front fan port with cardboard.

I have the following setup:
2 80mm front intake
2 80mm rear exhaust
1 92mm side intake
With ambient temperatures around 71F I get about 27C-29C case temperatures.

With ambient temperatures during the day around 76F I get about 30C-33C case temperatures (depending when the air kicks on and if my door is open, CPU use and if I stick the windmaker fan in my doorway).

The side fan can go either way, one person will preach to you to use it as exhaust, another will preach intake, and some will say don't use it at all that it will disrupt airflow. I personally use it as intake. It's a large 92mm fan blowing cool air onto the video card, RAM and CPU fan allowing all 3 components to receive the cool air.

ok guys thanks a lot! I actually no longer have this case. I got a new cooler Master case with one fan taking in air in the front and one pushing out in the back. also my new 520w PSU has 3 fans built-in. 2 in take air from the inside of the case and one pushes it out. Also there is a fan speed control knob on the back of the PSU. Its soo sweet! Also tomorrow my Water Cooling Kit will be here and then everything is gonna be "cooool". :-)
