What exactly does th 'turbo' switch on your mobo do? i activated it and saw no change in the clock speed of my cpu or speed of my comp in general. I was just wondering what it does? Any help / suggestions?
thaks

last time i can remember a 'turbo button' on one of my pc's is on a 486 dx.
untill then all pc's had this button.
Ahh the days when i could press 'turbo' on my XT and go from 8 to a whopping 12 mhz :-)

if I rememebr correctly, the turbo button was used for games, old (read really old) games used clock cycles in the program and to make the game work better you would use the turbo button ( I do not remember if it was on for better or vice versa)

This is why you need to use a program like mo-slo to slow your P4 down to 486 speeds to be able to use these really old games, without the slow down the game runs so fast it is unplayable.

thats correct sdkfz, ive seen that happen several times at the first Pentium and pentium 2 pc's. XP and AT games ran so fast you couldnt see what was goin on anymore. somtimes leads to comical situations.:-)

LOL thanks guys, so you're saying that it has absolutley no effect! It's not exactly a button really just the two pins on the mobo that i connected with a jumper which would have the same effect. So it was a waste of time because it was really fiddly! oh well!
