well C-Media onboard sound would let you. Basically anything with a digital out is what you want.

redwing3139, you've got me confused..... are you looking for "home theater" hookups..... or "stereo reciever" hookups???

I have a "home theater in a box" and I would like to run my system through the stereo reciver that came with it.

I must be really tired, redwing3139.... Do you want to hookup up to a stereo? Any sound card will work, if that's the case.

trust em it's not you it's me, I am just looking to hook it up a stereo so I can just get some cheap OEM creative labs sound card.
Most motherboards these days have onboard sound - try that first, if it sounds bad then get a sound card.

OK, to hook up stereo, you run a line from the sound card's speaker out (or Line out, if it has one) to the stereo. You can uses just about any Line In on the stereo, except Phono (if it has one).
Just get a patch cord with the correct ends on it: usually a mini-jack for the sound card, and usually RCA for the stereo. Set the stereo to play which ever input you plugged your sound card into, and that should do it.

And if you want a cheap Creative sound card, you can get the Live! 5.1 for about 35 bucks or so.
