Folks,
I'm toying with the idea of getting a TFT monitor, but I'm concerned about the max refresh rates and resolutions.
My current monitor is the Iiyama VM Pro 510 22", but its sratched and my mate is dropping large hints. Are there any TFT monitors that can match the res/refresh rates of the VM Pro? As far as I can see most TFT's are limited to 80hz and usually only go up to 1024 X 768.
Any advise would be welcome (I don't want to spend big money on this though!).
Cheers, Phil.

Hi,
Refresh rates are not a consideration on a PANEL.
You only get 1024x768 on 15".
17" would give you 1280x1024
19" would give you 2048x 1536
In the UK you can pick up a decent PANEL @ 17" for around £330.00 ($US500, but probably a lot less as the US is cheaper than the UK)
Better models are as competent as a CRT for everything, and you will quickly wonder why you ever did without one.
The 19" that I've seen are 1280x1024 - even a 23" is only 1600x1200 and they are well over $2000 US. I don't know of any LCD's that do 2048x1536.
Refresh rates aren't really a consideration on a LCD.

My Mistake glc, I was looking at a 21" IIlyma, it does have the res stated, but is over £3000.00.

So its pretty much as I thought - current TFT's are no good for gaming, unless you want to spend a ridiculous amount of cash.
I'll tell my mate to go and get a mid-range CRT!
Thanks for the replies.
What kind of resolution do you need?????? TFT's with a good response rate are fine for gaming.

Its more the resolution that I'm concerned about. I've spent a fair amount of cash building a top end machine with the 9700 Pro - so I'm used to running all games maxed out at 1600 x 1200.
I think I'd have to spend thousands on a TFT that can support that kind of res.
If I could find a reasonably priced TFT that could handle my requiremtns, I could sell my CRT to my mate.
Good point - 1600x1200 TFT's are thousands. 1280x1024's are pretty reasonable.
