Sidewinder precision 2 Joystick

I have a Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2 joystick. I notice that if i apply full foward pressure to it, at a point, the base will tilt slightly forward (that's with only one hand on the joystick). It's a bit annoying but otherwise it works great.

Is this a common thing that happens with these joysticks?

Yes, if the base of a joystick is not heavy, broad enough, or has good suckers, then that can happen. In the past I've seen guys have to hold the base with the other hand just to stop this happening.

You could always use a workbench "G" clamp if it's too bad.

I got the same stick, and yeah it is a bit too light imo, but at 35 bucks you get what you pay for ;).

I just got in a habit of resting my palm on the base near the volume control to keep it steady.

yeah ! i have it too! i find it great..certainly for its cost ..
but it has other flaws aswell ;)
my 1100 athlon ( abit mobo) always looses its driver in windows :s
ok if i put off the pc and reset the usb's it works..but that is one of the major flaws of this stick ..i've seen several peeps experiencing the same ...
but then again it is truely a great buy

just as a side line, Microsoft has dropped the sidewinder line of products. If you relaly like something you might wsant to get one very soon before stocks are gone.

indeed but then u must be aware that they also won't update drivers nomore ;) ...

according to PC Mechanic this month issue, page 25, Microsoft states they will continue to provide support for as 'long as the products remain viable'.

But avoidance except in the case of deep infatuation does appear to be waranted
