I have 3 printers I want to connect to 1 workstation. I bought a 4port Belkin auto switch to do this with. Can I then connect 3 laptops over the network to the workstation to print to any one of the 3 printers?

Can I make a suggestion?

Return the auto switch and get yourself a 3 port print server for your network, it will connect to your hub.

Using a printer switch can damage printers and parallel ports.

okay so I got the print server. What computers does the installations software go on?

It depends on the print server. Some only require that a standard TCP/IP port be installed on the computer, along with the printer drivers, others require that the print server driver be installed on each computer. The actual admin software only needs to be installed on one computer. If you bought the Linksys, you install the "BiAdmin" on one computer, and you install the print server driver and the printer drivers on all.

:) Thanks so much. I got the Linksys and it works great. Having a few problems adding a printer though. It's hooked up and looks connected, but does not show up in the printers. I'll have to take another look at the manual. I mean it's just an HP Designjet 200 on winxp. There must be some way. Thanks for your help and great suggestion
