I have a laptop with 2000pro on it, I bought it used. It came with 32meg- obviously not enough memory- so I ordered 128meg. The computer worked fine just extremely slow. While waiting for the memory to arrive, I put some of my own software on it, and got all of the win 2000 updates. After installing a critical update, it will only boot in safe mode, if I boot normally I get a blue stop screen
"0x00000050 (0xBF79C000, 0x00000001, 0x80461B64, 0x00000000)"
"PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA"
"Address 80461B64 base at 80400000, DateStamp 3d366b8b - ntoskrnl.exe"
I have uninstalled ALL windows updates, and even all the software I put on while it still worked, but it is still messed up......
any help would be appreciated.......thanks:confused:
I forgot to mention that I still have the same problems after installing the 128meg.

Do you have the Win2000 CD?? I believe you can set that laptop to boot from cdrom and put in the win2000 cd and do a repair installation..

I had this error with Windows XP. Put in new RAM and the error never came up again.
32MB is awfully a low amount of RAM to be running Windows 2000. I recommend you put in atleast 256MB.
Have you tried installing the latest service pack for Windows 2000? Looked over at microsoft knowledge base about that .DLL file, and they said to update to the latest service pack.

The laptop will only support up to 128meg, thats what I have now, it is brand new, got it in the mail yesterday. I'm not sure of the legal aspects, but I got the laptop from Ebay, and there was a BUNCH of software loaded on it, Visual C++ / Fox Pro / Basic, 2000Pro, and some other languages for handheld's.
I didn't even expect an OS on it let alone all that, but when I found all of this I e-mailed the guy I bought it from and he said he didn't have the software because "That's the way I (he) got it." I suspect this has been bought and resold a few times......

Hello Again:
Does the 128 meg POST OK?? That should be fine, my laptop with win2000 runs fine with 128MEG of RAM, but as far as clearing out the program errors you may end up needing a win2000 cdrom. Did you try actually pressing F8 right after POST and BIOS and just before windows begins to load to get to the alternate booting menu which is where you can choose to go into safe mode, but there is another option which is to load last known good configuration. I would try that one...

I do believe legally if he sold you that laptop with all that software on it he legally should have provided all disks liscences and product keys or he should have wiped the HD off clean and let it be known that it would be a blank HD...

I figured that too, there was no mention of an os in the auction, and I assumed like you said. After I got it, I e-mailed him back to see if he had the liscences. He said that is the way he got the computer. I am going to buy 2000pro so maybe that will fix the prob.
Also, I have tried all the F8 options and only safe mode, and safe mode with networking/command prompt work. Nothing else will.

What about going into safe mode and removing the devices or programs that you thing are causing the prob. Hopefully you did get a good deal on the laptop so the cost of win2000 cd won't hurt too much: Do a search cause the OEM version can be had for around 130 dollars..

I tried that, I uninstalled everything except the os and the VB studio.

I was thinking of device manager, and removing devices but even that route you may end up needing OS CD. I really sounds like you know what you are doing and have tried what is available without the CD. Maybe someone else knows a way to do something similar to the win 98 command: scanreg /restore
I think that boot last known good configuration is the equivalent in win2000 and if you tried that and it doesn't work, then that would lead one to believe that even the backed up earlier configurations are corrupt on that machine too, so only other thing is repair installation with Cd, at least thats all I can think of...

Yep sounds like I'm going to need the disk. I'll post back after I get it and see if it works.
Thanks for the replies
