Hi everyone. I am having a little problem with my Maxtor Diamond Max 15G hard drive (model # 51536U3). I started having problems with it right after I installed a 80G Western Digital hard drive and now it seems that track 1 on the Maxtor hard drive somehow got messed up (formating it does not help).
I already searched Maxtors site for any utility that may Fix the problem.
Any suggestions
Thanks in advance

I used to Powermax software to scan the HD and I got the following message "Read verify command failure, uncorrectable ECC (whole scan disk)". After that I did a low lever format with Powermax and I still get the same message after the scan.

I think that hard drive has gone bad. Is it still within the warranty period?

I think its past its warranty period. The weird thing is the Maxtor HD was working perfectly and problem free until I put in the 80G HD.
BTW. Thanks for the help guys ;)

Could be coincidence. Or perhaps the HD's card received an ESD while you were mounting the new drive.
(Not sure on that last statement tho).
Have you tried with another cable?
