I just got my new buils set up and i get this message when i boot that Hard Drive failure is imminent and i should replace it and backup data blablabla

Im using an ASUS P4PE mobo and i am just wondering how accurate this message is

IM not using my new HD i bought for this system until i get all the parts so i dont have to change drivers but my main drive (unused so far) is only 40gb and this wont be near enough

i just wonder why this dive would be failing already (if it is) and what i can do about it

TIA,
Sean

What make is the HD?

If you have any important data on the old HD, then back it up to CD-R/CD-RW or set up the new HD and transfer the data to it.

The go to your HD manufacturer's Web Site and download the HD diagnostic software e.g. Maxtor=PowerMax, Western Digital=Lifeguard Tools.

This will tell you whether the HD is physically failing.

Hard drives rely on a lot of mechanical parts all moving at some high speeds. Failure is not all that unusual and cannot be determined so easily as to why it is failing as there could be a number of different reasons.
