DVD Burner

I have some questions regarding dvd burners. My friend wants me to build him a pc and he wants be to put a dvd burner in it. Now what type it the best, there are dvd+, dvd- dvd . Also can a dvd burner burn regular cd-r or cd-rw's? If you have a dvd burner you like let me know what make and model it is.

I dont know much about dvd burners so any info will be great. Thanx.

DVD+ is better than DVD-. Go with DVD+R/+RW. Standard writing speed is 4x DVD+R and 2.4x DVD+RW, and the newest burners can also write DVD+RW 4x.

And yep any DVD burner can burn CD-R, CD-RW and High Speed CD-RW.

RJ's is just one opinion of many - there have been a lot of discussions here recently on this subject, you might want to search the forum.

If I were buying a DVD burner right now, I would go with the dual mode Sony. It's expensive though.
