I just recently installed a CD-ROM drive on my Pentium 166 (once again pathetic lol) but theres a few problems. When I connected the drive to the motherboard and then tried to boot up the computer, there was no video display. The computer booted up in the same sequence as always but with no video. I turned off the computer and unplugged the drive and tried to boot, and it worked just fine. So I checked the connections made sure they were all secure and connected correctly and tried to boot up again, but the same problem occured. I switched IDE cables and tried it again but still no success. I also tried to install a different cd-rom drive on the computer but the same problem occured again. Has anyone ever had this problem before? and if so what can i do to fix it?
Basic computer specs are:
Pentium MMX 166mhz
64MB RAM
S3 Trio video
3.9gig HD
The cd-rom drive is and MKE-Panisonic and the instructions for setting up the jumpers are in German so i cant read them =(
