I used to work for an American company (Unisys) here in Scotland which was a fabulous job where I learned my trade as an electronic technician.

Sadly after 5 years working there, they announced they were closing the plant (which employed 800) and moving the work to France.

In light of the UK standing side by side with it's American ally on the battlefield can it be said that in the near future American companies, when setting up European operations might choose to bring work to the UK instead of France and Germany etc?
Or is it wishful thinking on my part.

France, Germany and other European nations have let the United States down badly over the Iraqi crisis and I hope CEO's of large American companies remember it.

i wouldn't get your hopes up. american business is all about profit margins, most companies won't think about moving their plants, because they're still doing things as cheap as possible.

if i had a say in it, then yes, they uk would get more business and france and germany could sit their and try to support themselves for a change.

Sadly I know exactly what you mean.

Since the opening of the former communist bloc of Europe the wealthier nations in Europe have lost millions of jobs to the poor countries in eastern Europe where wages are a tiny fraction of what companies would have to pay in Western Europe.

Well you also have to consider Public Relations Homer15, no company would want to be accused of working with traitors. Traitors is probably a harsh word to use, but its one I think that the general public would label them as. Then again, how often do you find the american people take an interest in who the Fortune 500 are dealing with over sea's?

All I know is when the war is over and done with, the UK will NOT go unappreciated for the aid they have given us. So I wouldnt let your hopes get to low either.

i dont think it will have any change on the way business is done between the states and the countries it has been working with.canada has always helped the americans in battle ,but because we have a french moron running the country now,he put our country at risk at alienating us from our allies.he is feeling the heat now as the americans and the coallition are closer to ending this, but we hope it doesnt change the strong relationship that we have had for a long time
