Hey!

Question: .. I bought a new WD 80 8mb cache.. and I have another one .. already.. same brand name, same type..

I just realized on my Asus P4Pe .. that i had to get one SATA and one reg. ATA... in order to create a drive array.. and .. start Raiding in 0 ;o) So I got a converter SATA/ATA... and the HDs were detected by the Bios util....

The thing is ... I created the drive Array with the utility that's in the bios.. but afterwards.. in the Asus p4pe booklet.. it says to use Fdisk to format the disks and that afterwards the OS will install itself.. detecting the hd as one single kickin' HD.. but.. the thing is .. everything went right.. except..

What Format Command am i supposed to use..

If I boot up with WinXP CD ... it doesn't detect the disks...
And win98 bootdisk with fdisk doesn't detect it either..

Help me out someone please??

Thank you

You'll have to add the driver for the raid controller to your boot disk. Or if using your XP CD when it tells you to press F6 for SCSI drivers do that, it will then ask for your controller drivers at the appropriate time.

Just go into the BIOS and set the First Boot Device to CD-Rom.

Then bootup with the XP CD-Rom in the CD-Rom drive.

Windows setup will start and will allow you to partition and format the HDs.

As Tuf said, watch out for the message during Windows setup that asks you to "press F6 to load third-party SCSI drivers".

That's when you slam your floppy disk with the RAID drivers into the floppy drive.
