They say your best off having a picture of an item(s) that’s in question. Well, has anyone run into problems with making a claim?
Does anyone have any experience with this? Have there been any policy changes regarding digital photos as not acceptable?
Since digital pics can be altered etc?

i don't see why not,i would think the best way to find out would be to call your insurance agent.

I assume you mean home insurance? I would also say most likely. Heck, about 8 years ago when I was involved in automotive mechanical claims, all parties concerned were OK with the digital photos. I'm sure it has to be more wide spread now.

Insurance adjusters use digital cameras all the time so whose to say they don't do a little touch up work.

They accept them in Ontario, Canada.
A severe winter storm blew over an huge spruce tree at our summer place last Mar. The tree hit one of our cabins, the one that has the mast for the incoming hydro. Of course it had any number of places it could have fallen and would not have caused any damage at all, but instead it fell on the main mast.
Hydor cut all the wires to my property.
We keep a freezer full of frozen food stuffs because we often vist the place in winter, but can not drive in. So the food is there.
Well the hydro was off long enough that everything defrosted destroying $500. worth of food.
I used my digital to take photos of all the outside damage and of all the items in the freezer as we peeled it out layer by layer. I also took photos of the thirteen garbage bags full. The insurance company accepted all the photos and were very generous in their remuneration. They did not question any of the photos or our list of damages.
Just wait, it gets even better.
We received news from hydro about the damage late in the day on the 13th of Mar 02. The next day, the 14th of Mar my wife and I headed down to have a look at the damage. We didn't make it.
A tractor-trailer cut in too soon while passing and tore the front end off of our van. We were very fortunate that we both were not killed. We walked, well my wife walked, I rolled in my wheelchair, away without a scratch. I took photos with my digital camera and the insurance company accepted them without question.
In fact the adjuster was thrilled that I had the presence of mind to have taken some photos. Well don't think it was presence of mind, I was a vehicle accident investigator for nearly 30 years. I just did what comes naturally.
So at least for now, in the Province of Ontario, digital photos are accepted.
Oh, I guess now that I have titalated I should say that the electrics were replaced with a modern upto date system and the electric cables are now all underground.
As well, because we were not at fault, and because I had a special rider on my policy. We received a brand new 2002 van. The van that was in the accident was beyond repair. It was also just going on 3 years old.
All and all, for once in our lives we came out a way ahead of the game. I still find it hard to believe.
