Try clearing the CMOS first. Look for the CLEAR CMOS jumper and set it to the CLEAR position (with the computer off and the power cord unplugged from the wall). Leave it like that for about 5 minutes and then set it back to the NORMAL position.
Or you can just remove the motherboard battery for 5 minutes (with the computer off and the power cord unplugged from the wall).

The board will support 500mhz~1ghz and faster according to what I found here. http://www.sharkyextreme.com/hardware/reviews/mainboards/gigabyte_ga7zm/2.shtml
Anyone think it could be the RAM?? Isnt it possible to run into the same problems if your RAM went bad?
Why would he have to clear CMOS Cricket?
I just looked it up at webopedia and read a few articles on it, and what it is, what it does. But I still dont understand...Is the BIOS set to only except 800mhz chip or something like that? So clearing it would clear that setting...something like that?

It sort of gives the BIOS a clean slate to work from since it's not set up to work with any particular CPU speed. I know I have to clear the CMOS on my old SOYO 6BA+ motherboards when switching CPU's...if I don't, the system doesn't start up (although I think those motherboards do give me endless beeping until I shut it down and clear the CMOS).
I'm not sure how newer motherboard react since my newest one is 2 years old already and I haven't done any CPU upgrades for anyone with a motherboard younger than mine.

You need a bios update.
