All computers use Windows XP PRO with SP1
All computers are Pen III to Pen IV with Intel Mother Boards
All computers are custom builds.

Problem: Ok on my home network I have four computers. Let’s call them 1, 2, 3 and 4. When Computer 2 tries to get files off computer 1, computer 1 will get the blue screen of death and will reboot but will work when computer 1 gets file off computer 2 with no problems.

Problem 2 but probably related to problem 1: When I try to play lan games such as Quake III Arena or Age of Empires 2 and 3 will connect to game server but the other computers will never find the game server and some times when the gamer server is found will never connect. Game will time out or I will have to cancel.

Things I have checked to fix problem.
1. I have changed Ethernet cards.
2. All computers belong to same work group.
3. I have unchecked option for windows to reboot computer in case of error.
4. All games have the latest patches
5. Checked Ram

What do you guys think the problem is? If I don’t get back to you guys tomorrow I will try my best to on Friday.

Besides this all computers work flawlessly....

when you get the blue screen you should write down the code and try and find what's causing it. there are sites out there that will tell you what the code means. Another thing I would try is installing SP1. sometimes that fixes some bugs. If you have that done already, you might want to reinstall winXP. Those are the things that could most likely be causing the problem. I have also seen a lot of crazy problems due to bad memory. keep that in mind if all else fails.

Ram doesnt seem to be the problem but I will try and get the error code and then do a search....

This is what it says.

Driver_IRQL_Not_less_or_equal

Feand5.sys_address FAE89000
Date stamp 39ACB7CD

And of course the regular error message…

Feand5 is a Realtek 8139 driver - you have a flaky NIC driver or card. Try nics with a different chipset.

First I tried searching for new drivers but I never found any because it a cheap generic card. I had tried different cards but by the same manufacturer so that is why I ruled out the possibility that the NIC was defective, well not NIC but the driver. I went out and bought a different NIC card and everything has been working fine.
