   I read the tutorial on making a home network, it was a very good tutorial, but the part with all the software to buy and ftp addresses confused me; do I need all that junk to just hook up two (possibly three) computers to an ADSL ISP? all I want to do is use the internet and move my mp3's from my old and crappy 400mHz pentium celeron (I need to clean up my 6.32GB HDD)(Don't ask, it's a gateway) to my new 3.06GHz, 250GB behemoth of a computer (and I DO mean to brag)? will just hooking up the NIC cards to the hub and doing all that Win98SE stuff work? please help me. thank you

No you don't need all the extra software to share your files.

http://www.practicallynetworked.com has some great info on networking look under their "How to" section.

All you need to share DSL and establish a LAN there is a DSL modem that has an Ethernet output and a cable/DSL sharing router/switch. The router will take the place of a hub, it's a very simple setup.
