I have been burning Audio CDs with my MSI 48x burner but always there's something wrong with them.

The first one, in the last tracks they start ahead of the original starting point. I burned this one by dragging the mp3 files.

So, I decided to burn the second one by converting the mp3s to wavs first. It came out well... almost. In one song there is a point where the laser jumps back and enters an infinite loop. I have to either advance to the next track or fast forward that part.

I burned them at 40X speed.

What am I doing wrong?

What burning software?

Try burning at a slower speed and see if it helps.

Nero V. 5.5.10.20

It's weird, when I played the second CD on a normal CD player it played with no jumps or loops.

What is the recommended recording speed for audio CDs.

I found the culprit! I played that second CD in my old Creative 6x burner. Today I put in an original CD and it did the same thing.

Is my old drive dying?

I would recommend slowing down to 24x, as this seems to give the best reliability across differnt CD-Roms and CD/DVD players.

Also I always good branded disks, such as Maxcell and Verbatum.

Yep.
After many years of good service it's ready for an honorable funeral.
What do you plan on replacing it with?

I was thinking one of those combo drives that are CD-ROM, burner and DVD-ROM.

The LG combo has treated us well.

I was thinking on buying that one precisely!

Thanks for confirming my money will be well invested. :)
