i was wondering if this is a good graphics card for $110? its on tigerdirect.com
would it be a good idea to get something like this or to go for the gold and get the best/newest card?

How much gaming do you do and what games do you play? If you don't regularly play very graphic intensive games, then there is certainly no need for the newest card. The 4200 has a great price to performance ratio. It performs well (not like a 9700 Pro, but good enough) at a reasonable cost. I'd say go with the 4200 if you stick to light gaming.

I have the FX5200, and it performs only marginally better than a MX440se. Although it is DX9 ready so will probably do better when DX9 games hit the street.
see specs below.
The Ti4200 will leave the FX 5200 in the dust. However - are you sure you have an AGP slot? All the boards I've seen with Pro Savage onboard only have PCI slots.
Stay away from XFX - they are a division of Pine, who is a division of PC Chips. Also stay away from Tiger Direct. $122.00 plus $5 shipping will get you a 128mb MSI Ti4200 from Newegg, which is a much better choice.

The FX5200 takes over from the MXs, and the Ti4200 still performs marginally better than the FX5600

yea i have an agp slot and im pretty certain its 4x. i wouldnt have bought the computer if i couldnt up the graphics. (not to sound smart or anything lol)
how about a ati radeon 9100 128mb ddr w/tv out and dvi-whats dvi also? its $70 or so from what i saw for prices.
ill take your advice on the xfx glc. if i get something i want good quality. ide pay a couple bucks more for something totaly better.
The Radeon 9100 is a renumbered 8500, which is an excellent card, especially for that price. It's a bit "old tech" like the Ti4200 - it's 4X and a DX 8.1 card, but for gaming the Ti4200 is a faster card. I don't know if it's $50 better though, but you can't go wrong.
DVI is a connector for digital flat panel LCD monitors.

I can find the FX5200 for $88 on some site... cannot remember now. But my friend has no card, and wants to play 3d games! Well I looked at few FX5200 reviews and it seems average, though it could play DOOM III later on (maybe really slow) but is slower than the GeForce Ti4200. My friend only wants to PLAY the game, he dont care about high resolutions, AA, etc. Just High details ( maybe) and would be fine with medium, etc. Cause AA etc does make the game go slower. I have a radeon 9800 pro though, so i'm all fine.
