It was Sunday,27th of April 2003, when I came across an Ad on the newspaper, IBM LCD selling for S$499 !!!( For US, roughly US$250) provided you trade in your old monitor. It also gives you a free 32MB IBM Thumb drive. They also throw in 3 year warantee.

Well, I pondered and pondered, I had always wanted a LCD, since it came to light, but was rather pricey back then .As it justified the cause as I've spend most of my time on surfing, it would be kinder to my eye. As I am moving to another apartment next week, I might as well get rid of my ooo... Compaq 14" CRT monitor, which I have used for almost 6 years !!!.
Having an LCD in a new apartment might make more sense ! Though I actually didn't like the color.

Ok, after unpackaging, it comes with an CD which does'nt have any software other than the userguide in pdf format.A bit disappointed :(
After I hook up the LCD standalone power cord to the power supply. I was wondering where's the on button.Instead of the typically 'round' shaped design, the buttons were unique, they looked like 'waves'.

After it lits up, I was.............not impressed !!! Well, I actually don't find the display of color really 'stands' out. Though I 've seen many LCD display, I thought those of the brand name "Sharp" ,looks much better.I just dont' felt the 'color' was better than my 17" CRT Sumsung SyncMaster 700NF !!! A bit disappointed, I guess you pay for what it's worth !!!

For text display, It does it job just right. No complaint at all. What more can I expect out of text?

One thing that puts me off, was I was not able to get it to work on my pentium 3 machine, which has a older ATI display card !!! It would tries to boot up , and then finally never came to light. It would end up with a black screen, with a cursor on the left top corner . No matter, what I did to change the resolution, it was fruitless. I suspect it might be the cause of older display card not supporting this LCD.

So I've to hook up on to my Pentium 4 machine, which has a Riva TNT AGP card, it works fine. But I noticed a 'streak' of white vertical line, while booting up, then It disappear after completing the boot. Real strange, will continue to monitor it, to see If I 've to get a replacement !!!

The good thing is it's really a desktop space saver and though not a 'eyes' pleaser, it is less 'stress' than a CRT machine to our eyes.

My rating of this LCD , would be a 5 out of 10.
