I am trying to set up a 2-computer network to share a DSL connection and a printer. The host computer already has a NIC(ISA) for the DSL and I am having problems installing a second NIC. I purchased a Linksys PCI card and got almost all of the way through the install when I received the blue screen of death. Subsequent attemots provided the same result. I then attempted to install a 3com ISA card. The install appeared to go OK, however, upon booting, I get an error message stating that the 3com card is not functioning properly. My next plan is to try a different ISA NIC, as I think the 3com is having issues due to its complex driver install procedure.
Both computers are running Win98(notSE)and I plan on using Sygate to share the DSL.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Mike Minnick

Could be an irq problem. Especially with the pci nic.

How do I fix an IRQ problem?

This for 3COM Nic card. boot to safe mode command prompt, run 3COM diagnostic check, It'll automatic assigned IRQ and I/O port for NIC. Choose test NIC card, make sure everything is PASSED. Exit out and reboot. Reboot Windows 98, it'll fixed itself when it boot up. Make sure you point to correct location, when it asked for driver.
