I'm not sure if this would really fit here, but I've seen a question of the day at a couple of other forums, and I thought it was kind of cool. The questions could be computer related, or not, and they could be opinion or puzzle type questions (like that link a couple weeks ago where we had to find the source code). Just a suggestion:)

It would be hard, at least for me, to find a question google could not answer.

what about "what question can't google answer?" that's a good one.

Type: why is the sky blue into search box, brings up www.why-is-the-sky-blue.org where you can also find out the answers to such riveting questions as 'why is the sea blue?' and 'why is mars red?'

Damn, your right, is there no question that google can't answer?

Or how about www.what-is-the-speed-of-light.com

Ok, definately found the answer to any question you care to ask. Don't ask me how, but I've found a cat called Dr Universe who will answer any question you feel like answering!
One of todays questions is : Can plants get cancer?
So I'm off to ask this burning question, to see if the mog can answer it: "Are you really a cat?"

I've asked the question, and I've just recieved this email, probably the first and last email I shall ever recieve from a cat!

"Thanks very much for your question. I try to answer as many questions as
possible, as soon as possible. Since I've been getting a LOT of questions
lately, it might take a while to get back to you. In fact, until I get
some more help, I just can't answer every question. But just because I
don't get to your question does NOT mean it's not a good question."

I wait the answer with baited breath. Is it, or isn't it a cat? And what sort of help is she looking for? I've got quite a clever dog who will work for a couple of biscuits.

I can say that mairving has been pretty good at bringing up some REALLY hard questions; but his are so few and far between it would be hard for him keep a steady flow (daily). Perhaps weekly or bi-weekly.

Maybe he should read this thread and repond with what he thinks...

You couldn't do it every day because you would quickly run out of good material and cheapen it a little. A weekly thing might work. Most of mine are based on real world happenings and as Dok says are few and far between. To get it to work, the best thing would be to have people submit questions and answers to someone and then have that person pick and choose the question of the week.

maybe you could alternate difficult question, and then a poll like the "On of Off" thread in the general hardware section.
