http://www.dayofdefeat.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1650 that's the link to the DoD crashing thread which doesn't seem to be addressed by the DoD Team yet. I'm posting here due to the amount of expertise I've witnessed. Hopefully someone has some ideas....maybe it is HL:DoD specific?
My system in my signature....I get crashes also, randomly, on no specific map at no specific instance. What happens to me, usually, as the crash happens is that the game will freeze and the audio will loop, though I have noticed on 2 occasions where the game froze for a split second and audio looped but it caught itself and continued on normally, like it wanted to crash but didn't. Usually until the WinXP error report pop-up rears it's head. ON a few occasions the game will disappear and send me back to the desktop with no indications of anything.
I"ve tried several things:
Disabling the sound card through hardware manager.
Updating all drivers; VIA, SB, nVidia, WinXP except DX seeing as though ppl indicate it's doing it with 8.0-9.0a.
Rolled back video drivers to older versions.
Varying screen resolutions between desktop and game.
nVidia refresh rate fix.
anyone have any new ideas?
thanks
