Once again the forum comes thru. I had a guy at work tell me that installing a 7200rpm hdd with a 5400 rpm unit would make the 7200 run slow. Rather than pose the question here, I searched old threads thinking surely someone had asked this before. Sure enough, found the answer. Even tho ya'll didn't do anything directly, big THANX for "bein' there". (Oh yeah, if you read this and you're curious 'bout the answer, no speed change)

He's wrong.
To clarify:
An ATA33 drive, on the same channel/cable as an ATA66 drive, will cause the ATA66 drive to access data at the ATA33 speeds, when using a 40 wire cable, and drives are jumpered master/slave. On an 80 wire cable, drives jumpered CS, it makes no difference.
RPM of the drive has absolutely nothing to do with it.

I believe the "CS" thing is brand related, if I remember glc's post correctly. Maxtors don't have any problems with master / slave configs on 80 wire cables. I've used ATA 133 and 66's on the same 80 cable in M/S configs with no speed reduction or any other drive problems. Also used other combos such as 133 / 100, 100 / 66 with no problems.
