I have a computer that I built that is runnig Windows XP Pro. I got hold of an old HD out of an IBM computer. I installed it as the slave drive with my original HD as the master. The install went fine I can access the contents of the drive through XP. What I wanted to do was install some older games into the older drive(Windows 98 by the way). Can I do that? Is there any way to boot from this drive? Any help Please.

I used to have a second HD in my sys with win98 on it and XP on my newer bigger better HD, and what I did was simply use the boot options in my BIOS when I wanted to boot from either one...

Thanks kt. I found out the old HD is Windows 95. I was able to start to boot that HD using your method but a little ways in to the boot process I got a windows protection error.

OH yes, your going to have trouble with it because that load of win95 was set for another computer, try it again but press F8 right after POST and BIOS screen and get that menu to choose safe mode then it should boot and you can get into device manager and remove everything and reboot and it will load proper drivers for your PC, but you will probably need win95 disk and of course any specific drivers for your machine..

If it's an AMD processor, and faster than 350 MHz, Windows 95 needs a patch.

You might want to read the thread in the Tips and Tricks forum about the ENUM key if you actually want to boot into Win95.
