Video going out

Hello all
I have an HP 6370Z which has an Asus DB98XV 1.01 motherboard and has a on board Rage Pro Turbo AGP 2X video which is on its way out. when I first power on my computer it looks like there is a blue piece of glass over the screen. After it has been on awhile it will flash and then it will become normal. I am thinking about buying a new video card to replace it but I know that I would have to go into the BIOS to disable the on board video but I don't know how to do this. It has a Phoenix Technologies LTD 6.00 BIOS dated 9-28-98. I am running W98SE and W2000 with 256 Megabytes of ram and a 350 megahertz Intel processor. Should I just but a new motherboard and CPU or could I replace the video?

when you boot, look carefully at the post page (the first black page with white letters) it should tell you to press either delete or f8 or something else to enter setup. this will get you into the bios. if you miss the time slot to press the right key, just reboot and try again.
you can only use keyboard commands here, the bottom of the bios page should explain.
I am not familiar with the bios of your mother board, but it should be pretty straight forward to find where your video settings are. There should be a place to "disable onboard video" or "Rage Pro Turbo". If you are nervous about making changes here, just write down what you do so you can return the settings if you make a mistake. If you have the manual to your motherboard it will tell you what changes to make, and where the settings are. you could find a manual online if you would be more comfortable following the manufacturer's instructions. just try Asus.com.....
after you disable the video in the bios, boot to desktop. cancel any action windows might take to recognise and reinstall the video. check in device manager (right click on my computer and choose properties, then click the device manager tab) to see if your onboard video is listed. if so, delete it and shut down.
now you're ready to iinstall your new card.
Are you sure your ob video is what's causing your problems?
could it possibly be your monitor? a good way to check is to disconnect your monitor and try another one. If the problem persists it's your video, if the problem is gone, it's your monitor.

I have another monitor and I will hook it up and see if it is the monitor or not. I won't be able to do this until thursday. Thanks for the responce.
